BAKERSFIELD, CA – Local ballet students under the direction of Cindy Trueblood will come together for this Bakersfield holiday tradition in four shows December 13th through 15th, 2019. This year marks the exciting return of the live Nutcracker Orchestra. During the summer months, Shafter Symphony Orchestra Conductor, Stephen Penner, approached Civic Dance Center about reviving live music for the annual holiday production and a fundraising effort to hire the symphony began. The Nutcracker Orchestra will be presented in part due to a generous donation from the Don C. and Diane S. Lake Family Foundation along with other community members and organizations. Tickets for the production go on sale November 15th at 10am online and at the Mechanics Bank Theater (formerly Rabobank) box office. The dancers, choreographers, directors, and symphony members are excited to share this beautiful ballet with their city once again. As part of arts education and outreach efforts, a shortened version of the ballet will also be presented to local school children in four Young People’s Concerts.
