BAKERSFIELD, CA – Civic Dance Center is proud to announce the return of Hansel & Gretel: The Crone’s Coven, an original, spine-tingling reimagining of the classic fairytale. This year’s performance will take place Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. on the iconic stage of The Historic Bakersfield Fox Theater.

Choreographed by Executive Artistic Director Erica Ueberroth, The Crone’s Coven blends the elegance of classical ballet with the edge of contemporary dance to tell a hauntingly beautiful story of resilience, bravery, and the ultimate power of a mother’s sacrifice. With stunning costumes and a darkly atmospheric score, audiences will be transported to All Hallows’ Eve in Böhlen, Germany, where a coven of witches bargains for souls.

What began as a bold new work in 2024 quickly captured the hearts—and chills—of audiences, inspiring Civic Dance Center to bring the production back for a second season, this time on one of Kern County’s most beloved stages.

Arts Education Outreach – Young People’s Concerts
In keeping with Civic Dance Center’s commitment to fostering arts appreciation in the next generation, Hansel & Gretel: The Crone’s Coven will also be presented in two special Young People’s Concerts for area schools on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. These performances offer students a unique opportunity to experience live professional-level dance and storytelling in a theatrical setting.
